New Studio!

My lovely wall of inspiration!

Hello again! Since my last blog, I’ve been busy setting up my new studio!

I wanted a space I can get creative in, and work on some corsetry designs I have spinning round my head. I’ve had lots of spaces for sewing over the years, and they have all been perfect for each particular time in my life. This one is no different! I’m hoping this space will help me to get my business to where I want it to be…

Here’s the obligatory before pic –

Definite potential there, yes?

So first of all, we got a decorator in. We got in touch with Anthony Manuel from Diamond Décor in Warrington. He’d been recommended to me for painting the exterior of our house, so whilst he was there I got him booked in to sort the studio out. And he had a big job to do as there were 4 rooms in this office space to bring up to date! He has really made a huge difference to my studio, and he even managed to remove some old electronics cabinets from the wall which had been greatly irritating me! Extremely grateful!

Anyhoo… I picked up these vintage cutting tables from a local business on eBay. They are seriously chunky and robust, but were in need of a revamp. I liked the blue/grey cast iron frames, but the tops were the kind of grubby that you can’t clean off!

I went for some peel and stick vinyl. I liked the idea of two toned marble. One in pink, one in white.  Why not. Here’s how they look now…

I used d-c Fix vinyl from my favourite shop, B&M of course. Was really cheap, around £6 a roll and I got the grey marble effect, and the pink marble effect.

After working at the tables for a bit, I decided they were a bit too low to be cutting tables for me. They have now been utilised as sturdy workbenches and I love them!

I brought my IKEA table from home to replace them as a cutting area. My back is very thankful! It’s a much better working height and gives me space for the ironing board.

New studio

The room still needs lots of organising, and I’ve got some ideas for some permanent areas for photographing products, but I’m so happy to have a space for my fledgling business.

I’ve since added a temporary mirror so I can check the fit of my corsets in progress… et voila!

Watch this space for new creations coming soon!
